Annual Iskra Awards: SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR PEPDJONOVIĆ, AWARD FOR THE HAJDARI FAMILY
The Fund for Active Citizenship (FAKT) announced the names of the winners of the annual awards and recognitions for philanthropy "Iskra." The jury for awarding the prizes and recognitions decided to grant four awards and eight special recognitions for the year 2024.
As stated in the explanation, Pepdjonović is the conceptual creator and main organizer of the Friendship World Cup in Ulcinj. A prominent businessman from Ulcinj, former basketball player, and sports worker, with the full support of all the citizens of Ulcinj, this year organized the Friendship World Cup for the third time, which gathered numerous sports legends from all parts of the former Yugoslavia.
At this unique regional event, winners of over a hundred medals at world, Olympic, and European competitions gathered and socialized. A strong message of friendship and unity was sent from the Friendship World Cup, which presented Ulcinj and Montenegro in the best light, and from which around 100 journalists reported.
The Hajdari family, originally from Ulcinj, is the recipient of the award for contributions from the diaspora. For many years, this family has contributed to the development of rural areas in the Municipality of Ulcinj. One of the largest projects is the public park located near Vladimir, whose construction was completed in 2019, and for which the Hajdari family donated around $300,000.
In an area of over 6,500 m², alongside green spaces, there are jogging and cycling paths, as well as sports fields for tennis, basketball, and soccer. They continuously assist vulnerable families, elderly individuals, students, and organize various activities for children and youth.
Through the humanitarian fund "Trojet tona," this family has been one of the main donors to the girls' volleyball club, the karate club in the Anamal area, and has provided regular support to the educational center for children "Bright Minds" since 2020. Just in the past year, the Hajdari family donated €50,000. Although they have long lived and worked in America, they have never forgotten their homeland and their roots.
